A New Life !!

Reva looked at things scattered in the shop that opened in fifteen days. She wanted everything to go well. After all, it was a new lease of life that she had almost snatched from destiny after being duped into marriage to a psycho. Divorce was hard. Even harder was the pressure of being independent. She wasn’t educated but was creative. That’s what she decided to do. Use her talent for turning scrap and mundane things into unusual and beautiful interior decoration pieces. Who would have known that a hobby picked up randomly would be her bread and butter one day!

Truth - 100 words

Since an hour, her mother grumbled something.
‘Why are you grumbling without reasons?’ asked dad.
‘It wasn’t me. You are mistaken. You don’t trust me?’ said dad after hearing mom.
‘You are lying. Don’t fool me. I know it was you’ she heard her mom say.
‘I wasn’t even at home. How could I have done this? Ask Neha, she was at home whole day’. dad said
And she realized that she could no longer hide the truth. She had to tell her mother that it was she and not her diabetic dad who had finished entire packet of rasgullas.

You

‘Earth to Mars. Hello. This is Earth to Mars. Can you decipher the signals, Mars? God !! You are not even listening to what I am teaching you. You have interview tomorrow, remember? You need to revise these concepts. You just cannot miss this chance, Abhay. You need to concentrate. Con-cen-trate. Do you hear me?’ Riya said waving her hand.
‘I am concentrating on something more important’ replied Abhay
‘Right. And what exactly is that?’ Riya said, getting irritated and closing the book in her hand.
‘You’
And he saw her lips curving into a smile that brightened his day.

Xenolalia : 100 words

When Rehaan was three, he picked up hindi and urdu words. His family was amazed at his learning speed. As years passed by, he kept on speaking some incomprehensible words. Nobody in village understood what he spoke. The news spread like wildfire. Media got involved and it was found that he knew twelve languages at the age of ten. The world had found a new child prodigy. His fame grew wide and far. When questioned about how he knew so many languages, little Rehaan had no answers. Little did the world know that he remembered languages from his previous births.

P.S. – Xenolalia is the ability to speak in a foreign language which a person has not learned nor been exposed to.

Visitor

He always borrowed music from friends. Somebody told him about pirated music websites. Ah, paradise. While he searched hungrily for songs that he always wanted, a message on right side popped up. ‘Congratulations, You are Visitor No. 99,99,999. You Won. Just click on this message to claim your prize’. He couldn’t believe his luck. Quickly, he clicked on the link that took him to a new site which lured him into sending cash prize of one crore rupees after he filled his bank details. He did. What he didn’t know was that he would remember his foolishness for a lifetime.

Unexpected : 100 words

Insomnia made him do things he usually didn’t do. Like visiting a chat site to talk to strangers. One night, he chatted with somebody called ‘simple_girl’. They chatted for hours together about life including their past relationship failure. Both of them gave each other reasons why their relationship had failed and what they had learnt out of the failure.

At the end of it, he wanted to know her in real. He asked her name or atleast her facebook account information. After much denial, she agreed. What she typed next, was totally unexpected. He had been chatting with his ex-girlfriend.

We, the Nocturnal Tribe !!

Oh, it’s that wonderful time
When only a handful few hear those serenity chimes

Lovers to each other whispering sweet nothings
Exes remembering some old broken things

Writers pouring their hearts out
Readers digging a book inside out

Radio jockeys humming into their mikes
Insomniacs and sleep deep into a fight

Students with books burn their midnight oil
Hapless employees on their spreadsheets toil

Security guards on duty, sticks clasped in their hands
Thugs successfully working away somewhere with their plans

Yes, we all are strangers in the night
Bound by a connection obscure, a part of this nocturnal tribe!!

I would have seen a different me !!

Had I looked back at my old self
I would have seen a different me
An introvert sitting quietly
Whilst dreaming away to glory
So conscious of the world views
Never being able to give back hurtful dues
Confidence never near you
Having friends just a few
Poems in hidden diaries
Scared of letting anybody inside my world of fairies
Awaiting some magic to change life’s highway
Not knowing it was only ME who could do it any day
Had I looked back
I would have seen a different me
Would have taught her to just let go, be free!!

Mr. Know-It-All

So, you think you know it all
You think you alone stand tall?
It’s what you think is always right
But, ever thought from other’s viewpoint?
Snapping at wife
Fired the employee
She didn’t know how to cook
He was unaware of how the presentation should look
The children don’t score as much as you did
Maid doesn’t know how to close that expensive jar’s lid
Ever wondered about the efforts they make!
Is it only complaints in your head that you bake?
Wish you knew, living with people like you is not at all a walk on the cake!!

I knew it was my last day there

I knew it was my last day there
From tomorrow, I would be else somewhere
Daddy’s darling daughter
Sweetheart for mother
I am seen as a grown-up today
‘Single’ I would be only for the day
My cupboard, my desk, my bed…
This is the place where my entire life I have led
I have laughed, I have cried
Tantrums with Daddy I tried
Celebrated every birthday
Blessings showered everyday
Tomorrow, I leave everything behind
How I wish, each and every moment I could rewind
I knew it was my last day there
Coz tomorrow; I would be else somewhere!!

Every once in a while

Every once in a while
I get bogged down
I cry, I frown
Losing hope
Landing into situations I can’t cope

But deep down a flicker of light lives within
That keeps me sane and breathing
A passionate fire that burns all the time
And that’s you - My blog, My writings and My rhymes
A smile spreads across my face
As soon as I open my blog’s webpage

Close to my heart you reside
There is nothing here that I hide
I play with words and savour them too
My Blog – you are my sunshine whenever I am blue!!
