Dejected
and weary
I
look up at the sky
Laden
with a heavy sigh
‘Can
it get worse?’ I cry
You
took it as challenge
Poured
all your strength
But
trust me, Life
That
wasn’t what I meant
This
week’s prompt from Trifecta was to add 33 words in addition
to and preceding the following prompt: ‘That wasn’t what I meant.’
I sometimes wonder if HE is misunderstanding me too.
ReplyDeleteHe only gives you what you can handle, or so they say.
nice take on the prompt, thoughtful.
HE seems to be misunderstanding a lot of people, I guess. Thanks for visiting Kir. Glad you liked my take :)
DeleteThat's the worst, when you think you've already hit rock bottom and POW! Life says, "You ain't seen nothing yet!" Great job with the prompt.
ReplyDeleteYeah, seems like it Ashley.. Thank you and glad you liked it :)
DeleteSuch a poignant interpretation of the prompt.

DeleteFor some reason, this made me smile. Yes weird but I smiled.
ReplyDeleteThis is great work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Draug :)
DeleteYou have no idea how many times I asked life the same question and been misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteWell life takes it as a challenge, I guess we should too!
I swear, when would life understand it was not a challenge !!
DeleteThis is really cool. Not just the rhythm, but the overall message. Very well played! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have put this up !! Thanks for the visit :)
DeleteMan do I know that feeling. Terrific poem!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, feel the connection ;) Thanks kymm :)
DeleteAmazing. I guess happiness comes when you're not paying too much attention or not asking for it. Or maybe happiness actually means less troubles

DeleteBut life does throw up challenges. A lovely poem, Jyotsna.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does Kalpana.. at times when we least expect it to. Glad you liked this :)
DeleteIt seems to be Murphy's Law for life to hit us like that!! Especially when we are being sarcastic. Brilliant take! ♥
ReplyDeleteHaha.. Yes, life takes Murphy's Law pretty seriously, I guess ;) Thanks Kathy :)
DeleteGood writing. That's life sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's life sometimes. Sigh ! Thanks for the visit :)
DeleteLife really does seem to enjoy an ironic challenge now and again. Your take on the prompt really resonated with me.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Life also laughs mockingly at us when we are in the middle of 'what-the-hell-is-happening' ;)
DeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteTroy, hope that 'Amen' was for me getting out of those challenges :P
DeleteI hope it was still manageable...I read this somewhere once...when we fear all is lost, the tide will turn
ReplyDeleteHey Sini, welcome to my space. What a beautiful line you have mentioned here! Hope the tide turns in favour for all of us out here.
DeleteAll I want to say is that tomorrow will be a better day. That's life :)
ReplyDeleteYes Khushboo - good and bad, ups and downs.. part of life.. Thanks for dropping by !!
DeleteOoof, I hate that feeling, when all you can do to respond is to shake your fist and say, "Seriously?! This too?!?" Great job capturing that.
ReplyDeleteI swear how I hate that feeling too.. Thanks for the visit :)
DeleteWe certainly all have times we'd like to recite this poem. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYes, speaking from experience ;) Thank you for dropping by Alicia :)
DeleteYes, it always always happens that way. Sigh !! Thank you Renada and glad you enjoyed my rhymes :)
